I was absolutely blown away to be awarded “Instrumentalist Of The Year” at the 2022 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Momentum Awards. The recognition from my musical peers and community means so much to me and it only reaffirms my decision to move to the USA to pursue this career and to work harder and to keep pushing myself. Big thanks to the DC Bluegrass Union for awarding my tune “Neighbor Mike” first place in this years Mike Auldridge Instrumental Contest! So stoked to win this award, writing tunes is something I’m really passionate about, so this means a lot! Definitely wrote this one with Brad Kolodner’s dexterous clawhammer playing in mind and he plays it beautifully, and of course the busy-body neighborly energy of Mr. Mike 🎉🎉

I’m super happy to be able to report that my brand new album “Hair & Hide” made the top 10 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Album Charts this week. This is a super exciting development and marks my first chart entry of any kind! In good company too.

I’m so excited to share the cover and open pre-orders for my new album “Hair & Hide” with you all! This has been a long time in the making for me, I started recording this album in February of 2020 and I'm so happy to finally be able to tell you all about it and that it'll be released on October 29th 2021.

During the past few months of Autumn in Nashville, George Jackson has been working hard on writing out notated transcriptions of all twelve of the original fiddle tunes from his 2019 debut album "Time and Place" and is officially releasing the book on December 10th, 2020.

Tour dates! The first George Jackson Band dates of the year are coming right up at the end of February and beginning of March. Dates are listed below, I'm excited to be working with some excellent musicians on these dates; Brad Kolodner on Banjo, Hasee Ciaccio on Bass, Reed Stutz and Daniel Ullom will be sharing Guitar duty.

I just launched a lesson archive page this month where you can access video lessons I'm creating weekly or monthly from just $10. I'm using the Patreon platform in a similar way to websites you may know like "Artist Works", or "Peghead Nation", where you subscribe to video lessons. On my Patreon page it works the same, you can subscribe to a tier of your choice (weekly, monthly or personalized) and gain access to video lessons I create for a small monthly fee. I'll also be creating updates on music I'm writing and behind the scenes content from my new recording project for all to access for just $5 per month if you want to get the inside scoop a full year before everyone else.

Recently my tune “Dorrigo”, written for the beautiful Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival in northern NSW, Australia, has become a bit of a viral sensation on instagram and facebook with a bunch of great musicians learning the tune and posting a version of themselves playing it under the hashtag #dorrigochallenge. This has been totally unbelievable! I’m including a downloadable PDF of the bare-bones melody below if anyone wants to learn it. Remember with fiddle music, the dots only tell half the tale, I’d refer you to listen for the recording for information and ideas on bowing and variation. Happy fiddling!
